Small Joy

If there were any way at all to ease the suffering and burdens of those in our tornado-ravaged South, any of us would do just about anything.

While searching for wallpaper for a new client, I came across this charming, small group of paper that reminded me somehow of the South in days long gone by. These lighthearted wallpapers and fabrics could bring a little bit of cheer to our weary souls, even for just a sweet little moment in time, even if we just look at them and remember simpler, happier days.

Cassis {wallpaper & macaroons}

Can you see these stunning wallpapers gracing your rooms? With this much elegance, you won't need a lot. Consider papering one wall, or above a chair rail, or even buying one precious roll and placing it on the wall within a frame of beautiful molding. There are many ways to enjoy these luxurious papers. And don't even get me started on those fabrics at the bottom of the post! Enjoy this visual feast!

All papers and fabrics from Fromental.

I know, the French Macaroon is the darling of the blogosphere...we've all seen a zillion recipes and pictures of French macaroons... but this photo is so gorgeous, and nicely bookends this post, which started out with gorgeous cassis-color wallpaper, so this courtesy of les petits plats de trinidad, a favorite new blog from Marseilles.

Indulge yourself and those you love!

{Stencil} Lust!

Researching stencils for a client's walls the other day I found these light hearted and uplifting Asian inspired flowers that are so chic and pretty! Many of them are oversized and look fabulous in modern and transitional interiors.

.....................................

Below are stylized Asian medallions and borders to be interpreted in any size, color and configuration that you (or your designer/artist!) desire. Make no mistake, these are not simple, do it yourself stencils. It's difficult to get these right but in the hands of the right artist, they are worth the effort.

.........................................

And still more stencils in a Chinoiserie mood below. In the hands of a great decorative artist, you could have the look of custom wallpaper (think DeGournay) for a fraction of the cost.

If you are interested in using stencils in your design, contact me at kit@kitgolson.com. I can help you with obtaining stencils, designing the room, and finding a great decorative artist to work directly with you.

Most flower stencils here can be seen at Henry Donovan.
