You Know You Are In Provence When...

...you turn a corner to find this gorgeous pebbled
courtyard with enormous plane trees in front
of a renovated 200 year old house....

...the swimming pool looks vaguely like a Roman bath...

...the tomettes on the floor look like they have been there forever....

...you come upon a stunning old olive oil jug on the sidewalk...

...along with a vintage Provençal chair with straw seat and prints from the 18th C....

...the gardens are a study in shapes, rhythm, and space..

.. gilded and painted wood adorns your bed...

...along with muted cotton and linen bedding in quilted fabric...

...and old worn shutters lend an easy rustic elegance to your bedroom...

...the geraniums grow like wildfire...

...there is a wonderful old plaster bust in your bathroom...

...and your powder room sink looks like this....

...there are poutres on your ceiling and your light fixture is a renovated lantern...

..your neighbors have a gate that looks like waves on the ocean...

...down the way are glorious blue irises that inspired Van Gogh himself...

...there is a stunning crystal chandelier in your kitchen,
the windows and doors feature gentle arches,
there is wrought iron everywhere and the palette is muted and warm...

...and the house down the street looks like this!

  4. Yep! you got it all... have a great trip! One day you must cross the Rhone and visit the Ardèche. The more "austere" cousin.
