HELLO EVERYONE!
This evening is the first real summer one we've had. All summer long we have been freezing as soon as the sun goes down. But this evening... at le crepescule, it was lovely.
How could we NOT have dessert in the far back corner of the garden? How could we not use the beautiful hand-stitched blue and white throw over the table? how could we not cut dahlias and roses from the garden and toss them into a silver pitcher? and of course we had to bring out the beautiful Rosenthal bone china we use so infrequently. Then we realized we must bring out the old French fauteuil that is covered in needlepoint blue & white by Chris's own grand-mere with her own two hands. Incroyable!
The result is this little vignette that will forever remind me of our first warm evening of 2011.
merci pour la visite! ... Kit

Beautiful setting/composition. My favorite color.
ReplyDeleteHey that's really a great post and a wonderful description out here, I really like the way things are being executed and discussed here.

ReplyDeleteBlogger has gone rogue. It uploads photos when it feels like it and puts them in the order it thinks they should be in. Forget sequence. And their new spellcheck is awful. I am glad you said something. I thought it was me!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so gorgeous. Our summer evenings here generally require sweaters and outdoor heaters. Hope you have a few more lovely summer evenings to enjoy your garden!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I just love that blue cloth! It looks so elegant.
ReplyDeleteWhy hello, hello, Sweet Kit! I am so happy you found me. I love your space too, and I have found you on pinterest too! Pretty please let me know if you ever pass through London! Xx
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely setting, Kit and the blue/white combination always makes me think of the Mediteranean. Our summer has been pretty rubbish too and we've had one single warm evening when we sat outside and had a bbq... Hope it stays warm for you, Love from London xo
ReplyDeleteTruly a beautiful setting! and that you added such a family treasure (you are so blessed ~ to have such a talented grandmother... my mother has such a talent and I treasure her works)... wishing more warm summer eenings..xo HHL
ReplyDeleteHey Kit! I have a new blog name and I'm not sure it transferred from the old one. Pigeon Street Stalls is no more and I've adopted the name of a pig who lives on my back porch. Pontifical's Porch. He isn't messy - he's wood. I so agree about Blogger. No matter how many times I redo paragraphs I still end up with huge spaces where I only wanted a one line space. Lovely dinner spot. We've had a hellishly hot summer her in western NC.

We would have GLADLY sent you as much warm air as you would like from the Midwest!!! We STILL have it going on here, so I'll see what it'll take to ship it there! :-) I just remarked to my husband last night as we watched the weather forecast that it was only supposed to be a high of 63 (I think) in San Francisco. Wow...that is more like fall weather! After the balmy days we've suffered through here this summer, I'd KILL for a high of 63 right about now! :-) Beautiful table...love the blue table linen and the pure white dishes. Lovely! Glad you had a chance to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteoh i wish i could turn up and take a seat at your lovely table.. and eat!!
